Onboarding Outline Sample
From Chapter 3: Use this Sample Onboarding Training Outline. It covers four key areas: Objective, Outcomes, Context, and Content. Your outline will look different, but the outline below will help you more clearly define your onboarding training sessions' structure and focus. Less is more! Start with those specific areas that the team member must know to be successful in the next 30-60 days.

The Emotional Vortex
From Chapter 4: It can be helpful to draw a stick figure that represents you, and a line looping around the stick figure. This represents the rope of emotions. When the emotions have you, it can feel like a rope is wrapped tightly around you. You try to move, but the rope just tightens further. List the emotions that have you now. What do they feel like?

The Emotional Vortex
Next, take a break to get some emotional distance. After the break, draw the stick figure again. This time, you, the stick figure, are holding the rope of emotions. The emotions no longer have you trapped in their unyielding grip, rather you have them. Identify a few helpful emotions you want to put into action. For example, curiosity, courage, respect, empathy.
7 Steps to Values Clarity
From Chapter 10: Another tool you can use to begin to explore your values is the Values Inventory. Review the list of values in the pdf. Use it as inspiration, NOT limitation. You're not restricted to just these seventy words. Feel free to add to the list, combine words, make up your own. Highlight or underline those words that resonate with you. Follow the remaining steps from the book.
